I achieved the fifty mile hard weeks for the most part, but for all that my annual mileage was probably less than in the year before. This was due in part to illness and injury, though that happens every year. The real reason was that from June to the end of the year I was either tapering for an event or resting after one.
I don't do new years resolutions, however I do intend to train harder this year. Though I am of Sputnik vintage, the last year suggests (two PBs) that there is still more to be had from the old body. Mileage will increase with my 50 mile+ event aspirations, but I think it is time for some speedwork too; faster, harder, longer, ooer missus.
